The Oldest Kingdom in the World

In the 10th century, at the highest point near Vejle, the kings Gorm the Old and Harald Bluetooth created a monument that is unique in the Nordic context. The oldest feature is the remains of a huge ship-shaped stone circle – then are the rune stones and a church. Gorm the Old’s rune stone presents that he is the first king of Denmark. Harold Bluetooth rune stone presents the acceptance of Christianity on behalf of his whole people. For that reason the place is called Denmark’s Certificate of Baptism. Jelling is one of the most important sites of Denmark and from 1994 it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Why have I chosen to present this today? It is because today, 14th of January, Margrethe II of Denmark became queen in 1972 and she is part of the oldest kingdom in the World – Gorm the Old was the first King of Denmark. (I love that little country and I have seen such amazing places and bought a lot of cards to remember. In the next days I will write only about Denmark, its UNESCO sites, kings and queens.) In one of my cars you can see the kings and queens of Denmark. In the rune stones cards you can see the first image of Christ in the Vikings lands, it is from 960.

În secolul al X-lea, pe cel mai înalt loc din zona Vejle, regii Gorm cel Bătrân şi Harald Bluetooth au construit ceva unic în peisajul ţărilor nordice. Este vorba de o biserică înconjurată de morminte şi pietre cu rune. Una din pietre are înscris faptul că Gorm este unul din primii regi ai Danemarcei, alta indică faptul că regele Harold a acceptat creştinarea în numele întregului popor. Din acest motiv, aceste pietre sunt considerate a fi Certificatul de Naştere al Danemarcei. Nu întâmplător scriu despre Danemarca şi despre primii ei regi, astăzi, 14 ianuarie. Acum 40 de ani Margareta a II-a a devenit regina micului stat nordic. Mi-am dorit enorm să călătoresc în Danemarca pentru că, o să râdeţi, îmi cumpăram biscuiţi danezi, aceia în cutii albastre metalice pe care erau fotografii cu 4 superbe castele. Mi-am dorit enorm să le vizitez aşa că am făcut căutări şi până la urmă am ajuns acolo. Mi-am cumpărat o groază de vederi şi una din ele (o să o vedeţi) prezintă regii şi reginele Danemarcei şi mai arată faptul că au cea mai lungă linie dinastică din lume. Prin astea am făcut legătura dintre Margareta, regină de 40 de ani, şi pietrele de la Jelling. Danezii consideră, şi pe bună dreptate, că Jelling este unul din cele mai importante locuri istorice. Pentru aceasta, încă din 1994, monumentele sunt incluse în Patrimoniul UNESCO. În vederile cu piatra lui Harold Bluetooth se poate observa cea mai veche reprezentare a lui Isus, din 960, în ţările nordice (ţările vikingilor).
