Touring Negros Oriental in 2010

NEGROS Oriental is where Dumaguete City belongs, home to the largest non-Catholic Christian university in this part of Asia, Siliman University. Siliman University breeds some of the most respected alumnae in the country – products of strict Christian discipline. It also has a wide campus and tourists can flock to the area even though they are neither students nor faculty.

Outside the Siliman gates, the culture in Negros Oriental is typically the same the rest of the country although it boasts a few unique standouts. The Buglasan festival is said to be the mother of all festivals in Negros Oriental and is celebrated every October. There are many happenings during this yearly event but foremost among them are the annual beauty contest and concerts by Filipino rock groups such as Chicosci.

I’d like to tell you about the sandbar in Negros Oriental. The province has one of the most beautiful sandbars in the Philippines and you’ll really enjoy frolicking there. And then of course, there are the dive sites like the Rock Point, the Mamsa Point and the Coconut Point among others. For a very reasonable package, you can book your group for a diving tour complete with diving experts to assure your safety.
